Upper Story Housing

In contrast to the suburbanization of America, there is an exciting trend taking place across the country. The synergies created by downtown development and revitalization efforts are luring many residents back to city centers. Downtown market rate and high end housing is a "hot commodity" everywhere.  In Dover, NH for example, 58 apartments and condos have recently been created or are under construction. Main Street Concord wants that to happen in our downtown.

A downtown that is vibrant eighteen hours a day, seven days a week is an important objective and Main Street Concord volunteers know that the achievement of this objective requires the renovation and occupation of some of the vacant upper stories in downtown buildings.

Studies show that people who live downtown spend more money in the downtown than those who work there.  An average downtown employee typically spends $2,500 to $3,500 on an annual basis, while an average downtown resident spends upwards of $14,000 a year in downtown stores and restaurants.
